The Supremacy of Christ: The New Humanity

Much of Paul’s letters are about the apostle explaining to the newly baptized how the new humanity is to live. The old pagan way of living is to be left behind. So class privilege is out. Sexual promiscuity is out. Wanton drunkenness is out. Crooked business-dealing is out. Arrogance and self-promotion are out. Cruelty and violence are out. Why? Because that’s not who we are anymore. Our life is now in Christ. We are the new humanity. And our new humanity is characterized by Christlike love—love for God and neighbor, what the Bible calls worship and justice. This is the new humanity.
