Moses grew up as a prince in the royal courts of Egypt. As such, Moses enjoyed the exclusive privileges and finest pleasures reserved for the Egyptian elite. Even though Moses was born a Hebrew, he was raised as an Egyptian -- this was his identity. So Moses lived the life of the Egyptian elite, safely ensconced in the royal palaces…until he was forty. Sometimes the arrival of middle age can lead to some profound rethinking, and it certainly did for Moses.
