Let My People Go: Encountering Christ In Exodus: A Prophet Like Unto Moses

Nov 22, 2020    Brian Zahnd

Moses was the great prophet who led Israel out of Egypt, gave them the Law, and formed Israel into an alternative society based on the worship of the true God and just treatment of neighbor. At the end of his life Moses gave a long farewell sermon where he said that God would raise up another prophet like him. Eventually this develops into a Messianic expectation. When priests from Jerusalem tried to ascertain the credentials of John the Baptist, they asked him, “Are you the Prophet?” John denied it, claiming only to be a voice crying in the wilderness. So who is the Prophet like unto Moses? In his second sermon after Pentecost the Apostle Peter tells us that it is Jesus!
