Word of Life Church is proud to partner with the following organizations in our community and current volunteer opportunities are listed below:

+ Catholic Charities

WOLC partners with Catholic Charities in a variety of ways throughout the year. Watch the website and bulletin for updated events. 

+ Habitat for Humanity

Work together to build homes for families in need in our community. Locations and times will vary. Volunteers age 16 and up are welcome.

+ Hillcrest Transitional Housing

HILLCREST FAMILY ENCOURAGEMENT

WOLC sponsors a Hillcrest apartment and has a new family move in and work towards graduation every three months. They thrive when they are surrounded with encouragement and support. There are a variety of ways we do that. Sign up if you have interest, and we will contact you with more details. Our current family is a single mom and her two daughters, ages 12 & 13. 

HILLCREST THRIFT SHOPPE

Help sort and stock the thrift shoppe children’s department. All proceeds benefit Hillcrest Transitional Housing. Volunteers age 13 and up are welcome. Opportunities to volunteer are available every day but Sunday.

+ InterServ

INTERSERV MOBILE MEALS FOR THE HOMEBOUND

Volunteers are needed to deliver meals to people in our community who are homebound. Volunteers will use their vehicle to deliver lunch between 10:30AM-12PM on a weekday of their choice. This is a weekly commitment.

LUNCH AT THE OPEN DOOR

Help cook and serve lunch for 200 people. Volunteers ages 13 and up are welcome. 

SACK LUNCH SUNDAY

Help prepare sack lunches for 125 people at the Open Door Food Kitchen. Sack preparation happens at Word of Life Church before and after our Sunday morning worship service. Volunteers ages 10 and up are welcome.

+ Second Harvest Community Food Bank

SENIOR BOX PACKING

Pack food boxes for at risk senior citizens in our community. Volunteers age 7 and up are welcome.

NO HUNGER SUMMER

Last year Second Harvest provided nearly 75,000 meals through the program and with anticipated growth expect to approach approximately 80,000 meals this year. You can help provide meals, collect prizes or organize on-site cafe activities that encourage more kids to participate. Together, let’s make sure summer is a fun time and not a time for kids to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Sign up for more information. Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Volunteer opportunities are available Monday-Friday all summer long at various locations.

+ United Way of Greater St. Joseph

UNITED WAY READING ADVENTURE AT HUMBOLDT

Read with a small group of children to help them maintain their reading skills throughout the summer. Middle school age and up are welcome to volunteer. This is one of the schools we help each year through Project Backpack!

+ Valley Community Center Food Kitchen

WOLC prepares and serves dinner once a month. This Justice team is currently full.

+ YWCA

WOLC supports the YWCA's Mom’s Time program by through providing volunteers and financial resources to put on various celebratory events throughout the year. Mom’s Time is a time of stress relief, sharing and support for mothers with children ages 6 weeks to preschool. It’s also a resource for mothers of children with special needs and for first-time expectant mothers.
