Sermon: Seven Story Gospel – A Church of Stories
Pastor Brian Zahnd | Sunday, July 22, 2012 - 11:00 am
For the past 7 weeks, Pastor Brian Zahnd has led us on a journey examining the seven basic plots of story, and how they all ultimately point to the the Big Story, the story of the Gospel. Parables are stories, and stories need to be retold until they’re digested. Jesus was a storyteller and We need to hear Jesus’ parables in a fresh way so we can find ourselves in the story. The Church needs to be the place where the Jesus story can intersect with our story. But for that to happen, people need to be able to tell their story, honestly and fully. Even the stories of doubts, of addictions, of dark secrets, and of real sins. But for that to happen, the Church must be a safe place for people to tell their stories. Not a courtroom where sins are judged, but a safe place where a person can hear the healing words from the body of Christ, “You are forgiven.”
